ENCCA Training Programmes
The ENCCA consortium is dedicated to
enhancing paediatric oncology education and training standards. Work Package
15 is focussed upon this topic: enhancing paediatric oncology teaching standards
in order to harmonise educational courses on specific treatments, protocols and
improving the skills of all professions involved in translational clinical
research. Specialised advanced training courses for paediatric oncologists will
be set up to address issues such as integrating biology research into clinical
trials, cancer registry training, definition and improvement of cancer pathways,
and the promotion of high standards of care.
The ENCCA Work Package Leader for Education and Training (Work Package 15)
is Professor Riccardo Riccardi, based in the Università Cattolica del Sacro

European Syllabus in Paediatric
Haemato-Oncology: a comprehensive new syllabus in paediatric
haematology and oncology has been prepared by SIOPE in collaboration with
ENCCA and the European
Board of Paediatrics. The goal is to ensure a standard training programme
throughout Europe, allowing the specialists in paediatric haemato-oncology to
exercise their skills in a specialised tertiary care unit. Please find the
Report from ITCC Training Days in association with ENCCA: the annual
Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer (ITCC) training course on
“Rational drug development in children with cancer” took place in Rome on 12-14
September, in association with ENCCA. Prof. Riccardo Riccardi, Course Director
and Work Package Leader of Education and Training in ENCCA, provides a report on
the participant evaluation of the meeting and its success. Please find the
report here. SIOPE-ECCO-ENCCA Case Studies: the ‘ENCCA
Case Studies’ are provided by the ENCCA consortium as part of its education and
training programme. Case studies focus on specific and new treatment protocols
in the field of paediatric oncology; upon editorial review and approval, case
studies are regularly published. Please find more information here.
A precious cross discipline educational resource for European young oncologists
who need practice-oriented training, the ENCCA partner SIOPE contributed in
developing the Oncovideos - Developing Vocational Skills in
Oncology, an online library of videos showing standard procedures related to
various oncology disciplines. Please find more information here.
